canadian government is evaluating private/public partnerships re Transit
Well sure now that its profitable
Article I read in the EPOCH Times prompted this post
Economies are being manipulated to force hardship on certain economic groups.
Specifically related to vehicle ownership.
Increase in fuel prices, increase in insurance, increase in tax related surcharges on fuel, increase in overall operating cost of vehicle ownership, parking nightmare.
Consider those in the upper economic groups organize their tax and personal lives as tax expense, cost of vehicle ownership write off.
A large portion of citizens not so much.
What do we see in the future planning of transit, is ridership on the rise? of course Any data can be manipulated as recent history shows us, but common sense tells us urban transit requirement are only going to rise.
From economic hardship being forced on us, to immigration, household funds allocation(food over fun) to the convenience of public transit, transit it is a growth industry.
Considering all the above,
of course industry wants access the next boom, transit.
While couched in the wrapping of good governance
be sure this study was done to initiate a particular conversation.
That conversation being the movement toward private public partnership culminating finally in private ownership of the profitable transit systems in canada and public ownership of the unprofitable transit systems. Profit to private interests cost to taxpayer.
Growth in the urban transit system is a guarantee, as vehicles become luxuries the population must resort to transit.
Odd how it always seems to make sense.
Another consideration regarding transit and future profitability. Will owning a vehicle make sense in the 15 minute environment(the whole point of 15 minute cities).
The 15 minute city actually comes to reality.
What will that mean related to private transportation and lifestyle, might be a bit off topic but…
There will be carbon tracking, yes there will be usage costs and penalties.
There will also be carbon swapping. Mrs Gibralski 75 years of age doesn’t use her carbon allotment, ok she puts it on the local swapping site, she sells it every month so as to buy lifes little niceties like prescriptions or maybe a nice real meat dinner for her grandsons Bday.
Be assured there will be a swapping site. The system can’t work without a swapping.
Without the swapping sites the rich and the poor will experience the reality of carbon tracking equally, that can not be allowed.
Imagine what life would look like if carbon rationing were the final mediator of every person regardless of social position.
When your lot is exceeded you stay home no matter who you are, of course exceptions will be made for certain professions, but overall a fair system.
Of course there will be swapping sites!
Carbon swapping is a must or it just won’t work.(yes I repeat myself).
So transit, another forced shackling on the poor caste by the richer caste supported by the new spiritual caste to enrich the richer caste.
Transit a growth industry you bet!
hmmmm 15 cities
Odd how it always seems to make sense.
